After leaving high-school, Ian began his career as a quantity surveying technician in the construction industry in Aberdeen, Scotland. After 4 years of attending day-release College, whilst working, and 3 years full-time at University, he attained his BSc in Quantity Surveying. Two years after that he was elected a Professional Associate of the RICS. He continued working as a project controls professional in the construction industry but then subsequently transitioned into working in the oil and gas industry. He has worked for numerous major oil and gas E&P companies, service companies and energy companies, in the U.K., Canada & U.S.A., including: Atlantic Power & Gas, AMEC Process & Energy, Conoco, Amoco/British Gas JV, Occidental, Shell, BP Sullom Voe Terminal, BP Chemicals (Canada), BP Pipelines & Logistics, Exelon and INEOS Bio, in the key functions of Contract Management, Claims Management, Cost Estimating, Cost Management, Planning & Scheduling, Risk Management and Auditing. Ian supplemented his industry work experience by enrolling in online landman training courses.
Ian has been the Land & Project Manager for Herman L. Loeb LLC since September 2012. He oversees the company’s GIS mapping program, land & legal records, leasing, permitting, and contracts, in addition to leading special projects.
